Planalto is, today, one of the best-known white wine brands from the Douro Demarcated Region; its reputation built on years of careful research, a rigorous selection of the grape varieties, and the use of the best winemaking technology.2017 was a particularly hot and dry year. Rainfall was about 50% lower than normal during the months responsible for vegetative growth. The maturation phase was also affected by the reduced quantities of available water. For these reasons, the start of the harvest was one of the earliest recorded: taking place on the 7th and 22nd of August for white and red grapes respectively.
