Description
Produced by the esteemed Finca Antigua winery, a part of the Familia Martínez Bujanda group, the Finca Antigua Syrah is a distinctive red wine hailing from the renowned DO La Mancha region.
Crafted exclusively from the Syrah grape variety, this wine is the fruit of vines planted across a vast 1000-hectare estate situated in Los Hinojosos, within the province of Cuenca. The vineyards, perched at an elevation of 900 meters, thrive on loamy soils enriched with a significant amount of calcium carbonate, imparting a unique character to the grapes.
Harvesting of these grapes commences in the latter part of September, precisely during the third week, ensuring optimal ripeness and flavor concentration.
In the making of this wine, Finca Antigua employs time-honored viticultural techniques. The fermentation process is conducted in temperature-regulated stainless steel vats, followed by a 17-day maceration period to extract the rich array of flavors and tannins.
The wine’s maturation is then gracefully completed over 10 months in French oak barrels, a practice that endows Finca Antigua Syrah with its elegant structure and complexity.
